On July 25, The 2023 International Carbon Emissions Reduction Forum of Building Materials Industry and Symposium of Technologies and Products Encouraged to Promote and Apply was held in Beijing. The forum was hosted by China Building Materials Federation, and supported by Sinoma Energy Conservation Co., Ltd., China Building Materials Academy Co., Ltd., CBMI Construction Co., Ltd.
This forum focuses on the "green, high-end and intelligent" development of the building materials industry, exchanges new green and low-carbon technologies, products and processes with international counterparts, discusses carbon emissions reduction and carbon-neutral measures, shares advanced concepts, methods and technological paths for carbon emissions reduction, deepens international cooperation, and jointly promotes the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of the building materials industry around the world.
Yan Xiaofeng,President of CBMF,Gao Ping, Director of the Building Materials Department, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Raw Materials Industry Department, Zou Ciyong, Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director, Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Industrial Development, and nearly 400 representatives from the embassies and consulates of the United Arab Emirates, Australia, the Philippines, Canada, the United States, Spain, Malaysia, Japan, Austria and other countries in China, as well as representatives from relevant industry associations and representatives from domestic and foreign enterprises and research institutes in the field of building materials and related fields, attended the forum. The meeting was chaired by Shen Yulu, the Director of the International Cooperation Department of the China Building Materials Federation.
Yan Xiaofeng stated in his speech that opening-up and cooperation is a practical requirement for promoting the stable recovery of the world economy, as well as the progress of human society. China adheres to the development principles of innovation, coordination, green, open, and sharing. With enormous market advantages and complete building materials industry system, China not only has a broad market demand for advanced carbon emissions reduction technologies and products but also possesses abundant demonstration and application scenarios.
He said we are willing to enhance communications and mutual learning with all parties, create development opportunities through openness, embrace challenges through cooperation, promote green development through decarbonization and environmental protection, empower high-end development through technological innovation, and facilitate intelligent development through digital transformation, striving to achieve the development goal of the building materials industry: superior products and advanced industry, for the benefit of mankind.
In her speech, Gao Ping stated that firstly, we must firmly adhere to our goals, accelerate the intelligent and green development of the building materials industry, and steadily and orderly promote carbon reduction; Secondly, we need to strengthen confidence, accelerate the promotion of new technologies and products, and promote stable industry growth. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will continue to coordinate resources from all parties, strive to create a good development environment, and make positive contributions to accelerating the intelligent, green, and integrated development of the building materials industry.
Zou Ciyong delivered a speech in video format, stating that the global building materials industry needs to further strengthen cooperation in technology, innovation, standards, and markets, and promote and accelerate global strategic dialogue. The United Nations Industrial Development Organization will continue to support industrial decarbonization, providing support to emerging and developing countries in technology transfer and financing, and working together for the green and low-carbon development of the global building materials industry.
Abdulla Albasha Alnoaim, UAE Commercial Counselor to China (Minister Plenipotentiary), UAE Embassy in Beijing, introduced the UAE's carbon reduction goals in the construction industry and the prospects for cooperation between China and Arab countries in the field of building materials. He hoped that in the future, both sides would continue to promote carbon reduction and sustainable development, and share the fruits of green development.
Stephanie Duran,Director of the DOE China office at the US Embassy shared the work and experience of the US Department of Energy in promoting research and application of carbon reduction technologies. She hopes to strengthen technical cooperation with Chinese enterprises and jointly contribute to achieving global climate governance.
Eric Pelletier,Counsellor (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner, Canadian Embassy in Beijing. He shared Canada's successful practices and advanced technology application cases in carbon reduction in the field of building materials, introduced Canada's cutting-edge technologies and practices in CCUS, and looked forward to more in-depth exchanges and cooperation with Chinese building materials enterprises.
With the deep participation of China's building materials industry in global division of labor, the competitiveness and influence of Chinese building materials enterprises in the international arena are constantly increasing. The Chinese building materials industry needs wider scope, wider fields, and deeper level of open cooperation. The forum held the release Ceremony of the Bluebook on International Cooperation of China Building Materials Industry , with Chen Guoqing, Gao Ping, Australian Embassy Business Counselor Andrew Carter, and Philippine Embassy Business Counselor Emmanuel Ang unveiling the new book.
In his keynote speech, Liu Jianhua reviewed the new breakthroughs and application achievements in green and low-carbon technologies in the field of building materials both domestically and internationally in the past two years, introduced the key work of the China Building Materials Federation in actively promoting green and low-carbon development, and proposed specific measures to ensure that the Chinese building materials industry achieves carbon peak ahead of schedule.
Claude Lorea,GCCA Cement Innovation and ESG Director, shared GCCA's 2050 roadmap for carbon neutral concrete, introduced GCCA's initiatives in promoting low-carbon technological innovation in concrete, and interpreted the EU's carbon tariffs and related incentives for the production of carbon neutral concrete.
