From March 22 to 23, the comprehensive review meeting for the 2025 Building Materials Science and Technology Award was held at South China University of Technology. Peng Shou, Executive Director of the Expert Committee of the China Building Materials Federation, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Chief Scientist of China National Building Material Group; Li Yeqing, Executive Director of the Expert Committee of the Federation and President of Huaxin Building Materials Group; as well as Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Jiang Desheng, Miao Changwen, Zhang Lianmeng, Fu Zhengyi, Dong Shaoming, Liu Jiaping, Yang Zhongmin, together with 15 chief experts, members of the Federation’s Expert Committee, and industry experts, attended the review meeting. Liu Jianhua, Vice President of the Federation, and Wu Bo, Vice President of South China University of Technology, attended the meeting and delivered remarks.

During the meeting, the review experts, in accordance with the evaluation methods and guiding principles of the Building Materials Science and Technology Award, conducted scientific, rigorous, objective, and impartial inquiries and evaluations of the projects from a global perspective, across multiple dimensions including the importance, urgency, breakthrough nature, advancement, economic and social benefits, and application prospects of the innovation achievements.

The meeting concluded that since the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, under the guidance of the national goal of achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-strengthening, and driven by the “open competition” mechanism for major scientific and technological research in the building materials industry, China’s building materials sector has significantly enhanced its scientific and technological innovation capacity. A number of original, breakthrough, and iterative technological achievements have continuously emerged, providing strong support for the green, low-carbon, safe, and high-quality development of the industry. As a comprehensive and authoritative science and technology award for the national building materials industry, the Building Materials Science and Technology Award serves as an important basis and channel for nominating projects for the National Science and Technology Awards. In recent years, both the number and quality of nominated projects have steadily improved, the scope of fields involved has continued to expand, and multiple project achievements have been honored with National Science and Technology Awards, fully demonstrating the new achievements in independent innovation of China’s building materials industry.
