On April 27, Yan Xiaofeng, President of the China Building Materials Federation (CBMF), met with Jeffrey Rosen, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Lazard, and his delegation. The two sides held a discussion and exchanged views on the green and low-carbon transition of China’s building materials industry as well as its overseas investment layout.

Yan Xiaofeng welcomed the visit of Jeffrey Rosen and his delegation. He noted that China’s building materials industry is currently at a critical stage of transitioning from scale-driven growth to high-quality development. The industry is promoting quality and efficiency improvements by accelerating the upgrading of traditional building materials industries, fostering the growth of new materials industries, and enhancing the development of non-metallic mineral resources industries—forming three major development drivers. He emphasized that, as Chinese building materials enterprises accelerate their “going global” efforts, the industry needs to move beyond traditional development paths and strengthen its core competitiveness with an international perspective and global mindset. The Federation is willing to strengthen communication with professional institutions such as Lazard, and to leverage financial empowerment to support Chinese enterprises in optimizing their overseas layout and achieving deeper internationalization.

Jeffrey Rosen highly commended the remarkable achievements of China’s building materials industry in advancing its green and low-carbon transition. He stated that, as one of the world’s leading financial advisory and asset management firms, Lazard places great importance on the overseas development potential of China’s building materials industry, and hopes to fully leverage its expertise in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and capital operations to provide professional support for Chinese enterprises going global, and to help enhance their level of internationalization.
