From October 17th to 18th, the 39th Quality Management Group Representatives Conference of the Building Materials Industry and the Quality Trustworthy Team Experience Exchange Conference was successfully held by the China Building Materials Federation (CBMF) in Hefei, Anhui. The conference aimed to summarize and share the achievements of enterprise quality management, promote continuous improvement in the quality of products, projects, and services within the building materials industry, and provide a foundation for building a modern industrial system that ensures the safe and high-quality development of the sector.
Zhang Yan, Deputy Director of the Quality Division of the Science and Technology Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Chen Guoqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of the CBMF, attended and delivered speeches. Other key attendees included Wu Qingtao, Special Vice President of CBMF and General Manager of the Beijing Guojian Lianxin Certification Center Co., Ltd.; Zhou Liwei, Chief Standardization and Quality Officer and Deputy Secretary-General of CBMF; invited guest speakers and experts; representatives from relevant provincial, regional, and municipal building materials industry associations, specialized associations, and enterprises; individuals who presented the achievements of groups and teams in 2024; recipients of the 2023 industry quality management awards, outstanding individuals and organizations; as well as representatives from the media, totaling over 200 participants. The conference was chaired by Cao Yuanhui, Head of the Standards and Quality Department of CBMF.
In his speech, Zhang Yan emphasized that quality is the lifeline of building a strong manufacturing nation. He stressed that we must adhere to the important directives of President Xi Jinping, prioritize quality work, and drive substantial improvements in the quality of the industry, enabling the sector to move up the value chain. He noted that in recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has focused on core technologies, key products, and the industrial foundation, aiming towards high-end, intelligent, and green development. The ministry has undertaken a series of key initiatives to help enterprises diversify products, improve quality, and establish brands, thereby achieving new breakthroughs in the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. Looking ahead, Zhang highlighted that the MIIT Science and Technology Department will continue to follow the guiding principles of Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, reinforcing quality support. Key areas of focus include encouraging enterprises to pursue excellence in quality, enhancing quality and efficiency, guiding companies to prioritize product quality, increasing the supply of high-quality products, and helping enterprises forge core advantages, enhance brand value, and establish Chinese quality and Chinese brands to support the advancement of new industrialization.
Chen Guoqing highlighted that advancing quality construction is an important reflection of the building materials industry’s efforts to implement the decisions and deployments of the central government. It plays a crucial role in promoting the green, low-carbon, safe, and high-quality development of the industry, while also helping enterprises strengthen internal management and enhance their competitiveness in the market. He introduced the key initiatives undertaken by the CBMF over the past year to improve the quality of the industry and shared four key expectations for further advancing quality enhancement activities: 1) Adhere to innovative concepts, 2) Prioritize value creation, 3) Focus on learning and practice, and 4) Strengthen incentive mechanisms. He emphasized that the CBMF will continue to prioritize and support quality improvement and brand-building activities, strengthening collaboration and exchanges with local and specialized associations, industry enterprises, and leveraging the leading role of exemplary enterprises to foster a strong atmosphere where quality comes first and brands lead the way. This is to contribute to achieving the goal of "Superior products and advanced industry, for the benefit of mankind," promoting the green, low-carbon, safe, and high-quality development of the building materials industry.
During the conference, Feng Shi, General Manager of the Operations Management Department of China National Materials Cement, shared the company's achievements and best practices in its international branding efforts through the case of the Zambia Industrial Park. Zhang Liwen, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Department at Jidong Development Group, shared successful experiences in systematically promoting quality improvement activities and utilizing quality management group methods to enhance employee skills and build new production capabilities for the company. Xing Suxia, QC Activity Trainer from the Quality Work Committee of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, provided a detailed interpretation of group and team activity standards, explaining the processes and methods of quality management activities. Additionally, Huang Aibin, Assistant to the Director of the Quality Department of Anhui Conch Cement, conducted a technical exchange on how digitalization empowers intelligent manufacturing and improves cement product quality.
The conference also presented certificates to recipients of the 2023 outstanding quality management achievements, advanced individuals, and exemplary organizations in the building materials industry. Awards were also given to the winners of the 2023 "My Favorite Quality Management Group" and "My Favorite Quality Trustworthy Team" categories.
Concurrent with the conference, the 2024 Quality Management Group and Quality Trustworthy Team Achievement Presentation and Exchange Meeting was held. Experts at the event provided feedback on each of the presented achievements.
In recent years, the enthusiasm and initiative of enterprises and employees in the building materials industry to engage in quality management activities have grown significantly, thanks to the recognition and support of relevant government departments. The content quality of enterprise presentations has steadily improved, and the role of quality management activities in assisting with enterprise management, solving problems, enhancing employee capabilities, and improving company performance has become increasingly prominent. These activities have become an important means for the continuous progress of leading companies in the industry. This conference received positive responses and support from organizations such as China National Building Material Group, BBMG Group, the China Building Materials Machinery Industry Association, and the Xinjiang Building Materials Industry Association, creating a strong atmosphere where society values quality, the industry prioritizes quality, enterprises pursue quality, and employees care about quality.
