Last year, the Science and Technology Innovation Conference established the “Building Materials Science and Technology Forum” for the first time, successfully creating a platform for sharing frontier technologies. This year, the forum invited three academicians and experts to continue offering forward-looking insights and inspiring innovative thinking among enterprises in the building materials industry.

Academician Zhang Lianmeng of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivering a keynote lecture
Academician Zhang Lianmeng delivered a lecture titled “Working Hand in Hand with Industry Peers to Enter the Era of the Pan-Semiconductor Industry,” focusing on the R&D and industrialization of new materials for the pan-semiconductor sector. He provided an in-depth analysis of this key strategic field that concerns national industrial security and the transformation of the building materials industry.

Academician Xie Jianxin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivering a keynote lecture
In his report titled “Intelligent Design and Digital Manufacturing of New Materials,” Academician Xie Jianxin outlined pathways for enabling new materials R&D through artificial intelligence.

Jiang Wangcheng, President of Solutions, Huawei Oil & Gas and Mining Corps, delivering a keynote lecture
Jiang Wangcheng, President of Solutions of Huawei’s Oil & Gas and Mining Corps, delivered a lecture titled “Thoughts and Practices on Digital Transformation in the Building Materials Industry,” demonstrating how technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing empower the intelligent upgrading of manufacturing.

Chen Guoqing, Executive Vice President of CBMF, signing contracts with awardees of the “open competition for the best candidates” mechanism
The conference also held the signing ceremony for the awardees of the fifth batch of national major science and technology projects in the building materials industry under the “open competition for the best candidates” mechanism. This batch of project lists, released by CBMF in August 2025, focuses on “AI + Building Materials,” high-value resource utilization, and inorganic non-metallic “super materials,” covering 18 directions. After the release of the list, units inside and outside the industry responded enthusiastically. Following expert review organized by CBMF, 49 teams successfully secured their respective projects. Chen Guoqing, on behalf of CBMF, signed contracts with representatives of the winning units, marking the official launch of a new round of core technological breakthroughs for the industry.

Yan Xiaofeng and Jin Zhanping, Vice President of CBMF and Secretary-General of the Chinese Ceramic Society, presenting awards to first-prize winners of the 2024 Building Materials Science and Technology Award
The conference also recognized 69 outstanding projects that won the 2024 Building Materials Science and Technology Award, setting industry benchmarks for innovation and encouraging scientific and technological personnel across the sector.

In the subsequent technical report session, experts and scholars from enterprises, universities, and research institutes delivered thematic presentations. Speakers included CBMF Expert Committee Member and Vice President of China National Building Materials International Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNBM International) Sui Tongbo; General Manager of Anhui Conch Material Technology Co., Ltd. Chen Feng; CBMF Expert Committee Member and Director of the Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Su Liangbi; and CBMF Expert Committee Member and Professor of China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) Wang Dongmin. Their presentations—titled “Empowering Green, Low-Carbon Circular and Sustainable Development Along the Full Value Chain: CNBM International’s Innovative Practice,” “Embracing Change and Driving High-Quality Development Through Innovation,” “Key Technology R&D and Application for Industrialization of Deep-Ultraviolet Calcium Fluoride Crystal Materials,” and “Key Technologies and Applications for Low-Carbon and Green Preparation of Silicon–Aluminum Solid-Waste Cementitious Materials,” respectively—addressed frontier technologies, challenges in green and low-carbon development, scientific and technological innovation, and achievements under the “open competition for the best candidates” mechanism. Their insights offered valuable perspectives and experience to the industry.
